RSS 101 – Let Me Tell You About RSS

RSS
There is no doubt you may have heard the term RSS before. It is becoming more and more popular on the web, and if you are not using it, there is a good chance you should be as it can save you time and bring you all the content you only want to read.

First things first, what does RSS stand for? Well RSS does have quite a few meanings, however one of the most commonly used and my favorite is ‘Really Simple Syndication‘. RSS is the process or format of providing for ever changing content on the web. There are heaps of sites out there today that use RSS, by syndicating their content of their website or blog into a RSS feed and provide this feed to who ever may want it. For example we currently use a RSS feed for the very blog you are reading now. We provide an RSS feed which allow you to quickly view and keep up to date with all new posts that we make.

So How Do I Use This RSS feed?

So now you know what RSS is, it is time to use it. What you need now is a RSS Reader, and there are heaps of these available for free on the internet. One of my favorite since I am a Google and Gmail user is the Google Reader. All you need is a Google Account and then you have access to the reader (along with many other cool tools). Once you have the reader it is a matter of finding sites that syndicate content and adding them to your list of sites your reader checks for updates. Once this is done you simply check your reader to keep up to date on all the latest news and content.

Hello! Quick question that’s completely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My weblog looks weird when browsing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to fix this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share. Thanks!
